Meet the Family Order Wine Winemaking Vineyards Reviews Contact
NY Times - August 11, 2004, ERIC ASIMOV writes - "With Phil Coturri, now a prominent viticulturist but back then .... "a second runner-up in a Jerry Garcia look-alike contest," he painstakingly planted 40 acres, mostly with cabernet sauvignon, on seven different types of soil, on slopes with seven different exposures to the sun. They decided, against much advice, to farm organically...."As part of his organic regimen, Mr. Coturri has planted cover crops, as well, like mustard, clover, peas and beans, to keep the soil healthy and alive. "You'll be able to close your eyes and taste the site, the climate, the agriculture," he said. "You'll taste this vineyard, which Phil literally built with his hands."
